Dananananaykroyd support tour days 1-3....................

The Dananananaykroyd support tour started off in typical Me My (lost our) Head style by arriving at the venue in Hull where we locked the keys in the van and had to wait for the venue photographer to come back with his emergency car break-in kit to help break back into the van

Rushing through the soundcheck with limited time the set went down well with the crowd and all the bands played really well, it was quite a surreal night with people pissing on the floor and getting thrown through doors

The venue in Coventry was a small jazz club down by the canal - after driving around the town for ages trying to find somewhere to park we arrived at the venue and had a similar rush to the night before, as soundman and promoter didnt arrive 'till just before doors

Today is my birthday and we are chilling in Oxford, drinking and holding hands, but mainly holding hands

Thanks

Twin Atlantic tour so far...

Hi everyone, Charlie here in a swanky new travelodge in Birmingham, the epicentre of the UK! There's definitly too much to mention in one entry so I'll transcribe my scribblings from the road onto here as soon as we're back home.

Glasgow QMU, Sat 7th March 2009

Well, what a great opening night. We couldn't of asked for anything better! The 900 capacity venue was full and people were queuing outside the venue before we even got there. Glasgow is a great city with a great music scene and the two bands with whom we are sharing this whole tour with are Twin Atlantic and Flood Of Red, both being from the Glasgow area and both being great musically and personally. The stagehands carried everything for us at the venue and everything was so professional it was fantastic, we just got to concentrate on playing for once which was such a relief. Lots of people came to chat after the gig which was also extremely kind and heartwarming to know that people are already jumping on the Me My Head fanbase. My time on the PAYG internet is running out so I'll write more when I've got change. speak soon heads, charlie

Cucumbers at dawn..........

We are currently back up north applying the finishing touches to our debut album with Rich.

Arrived on Tuesday night and picked up some supplies - Jonny lunged at Ash with a cucumber and Ashley's notorious jumpy nerves made him scream and flip into the cucumber which ended up on the floor of the Co-Op in about 5 pieces. Me, Ash and Jonny ran giggling like girls and hid behind the Shreddies to avoid detection from the staff. We managed to keep it together enough to get the shopping done and get out - thanks to Charlie.

Once safely inside the studio we watched Derren Brown on C4 with more bottles of red wine.

The next day James finally arrived after getting stuck in Marrakesh on a plane full of melon crates and chickens. We started mixing and editing the tracks, starting with Leave While You Can.

Days 6, 7, 8, 9?!? losing our minds in time............

Hello again.....

it's been a little while since we last updated the blog - mainly due to the mad weekend we had after signing our record deal. One of the last things I can remember from that night is James lying spread-eagled in the studio gargling and writhing around on the floor, wrestling aggresively with jonny. Then me talking a load of bollocks and drinking vodka with Rich until 6am until I found myself in my bed but didn't know how I got there.

Saturday we got up late after panicking that one of us had left the record contract in a taxi before finding it in the toilet and then went straight up to the pub to level us out - we played scrabble, caught up with the footy and ate packets of Scampi Fries. After which we headed back to the studio for wine and Saturday night TV whilst also losing our minds with something our manager left on the window sill.

Power cuts and record deals - days 4/5

Good morning! Jonny Head reporting, Its been a crazy couple of days hence the late blog. (sorry about that x) It was Thursday night, we were so close to finishing ‘Feel it’ when there was a complete power cut to the whole street and we were plunged into darkness. Everyone kind of sat in silence for a second all thinking ‘I wonder if all the work we were just doing on the track has been lost forever!!’ A few candles and a couple of worrying minutes later we were again on the way to the pub , which (thank god!) had not been affected by the power cut. By the time the juice had come back on and everything had been checked to make sure it was all there we were all the better side of a few pints of Hercules and barrelled our way back to the studio and pretty much to bed! Friday! The big day!!! Charlie had a fare bit of work to do. Vocals on ‘This Feeling’ and on ‘Feel It’ needed to be finished and a couple of other loose ends before 6 ish when the momentous moment of moments would unfold! Finally they arrived. Dan our faithful manager and Scott and Rich from the label. In Scott’s hand a brown envelope containing the documents that would change all of our lives. The sacred RECORD DEAL!!!!!! A few signatures, a glass of bubbly, a lot of love and a brisk taxi ride took us to Leeds to celebrate this incredible moment. We ate, we drank, we drank a bit more and chatted complete nonsense at each other until the early hours. It was a night I think we will all remember for a long time to come! One of the other Heads will be along shortly to fill you in with the fall out details. Over and out x

Thursday's tales

good day, James head here.

it's been a wintery bluster of a day today, cold and deathly thick ice covers any concrete that could lead us to the pub for a winter warmer. But we won't be denied. we will brave the conditions anyway, regardless of what they say.

so, music:

today we awoke to the job of polishing off the backing vocals and some extra lead gutar to our new track 'Help Me From Myself' - it sounds massive, and we are all very proud.

Once completed and backs duly slapped, we began on 'Feel It'.  As I write, the drums have been re-worked and are sounding huge, and are now in the capable hands of Mr Macnamara,  who will do a bit of comping (putting the best parts of the takes together), which takes an hour or so,  thus bringing me nicely to the beginning of this blog - the band embarking on a walk through freezing conditions to quench our thirst.

I hope we make it back....if we do, you shall hear from Mr Juviler tomorrow morn.

I bid you farewell.

day 2/3

hi. ashley billimoria writing blog now. i shall tell tell you about yesterday and today.

yesterday was fun. i had my first shower of the trip, although im still wearing the same clothes i got here in. for breakfeast i had crunchy nut cornflakes. lunch was a budget tinned tomato soup and bread, with dinner being a tasty chicken rogan josh curry with slime rice. jonny panicked about undercooking the chicken, but i say it was perfect. ended the day with a marmite and cheese sandwich and watched afilm about pineapples.

we also recorded the best song ever called this feeling. went down pretty fast and fun, its just the best song to dance like a dad to. a beautiful, modern, trendy dad. with a super singalong chorus and stuff about muffins and liquorice that hopefully will make the final cut. 165 beats per minute.

halfway through the day we went for a walk and everyone nearly died as its pretty slippery with the snow and all the that. we went and got some sweets from the shop. these include cola cubes, toasted tea cakes, sport mix, fruit pastilles. i also got a raspberry ruffle which i later regretted. stopped in the local pub, jonny and i holding up the gentlemenly quarter with a fine port. james dave and charlie choosing the louts route of a light ale. i would have stayed in that pub all day.

today so far........ doing a song called help me from myself. pretty dark sexy stuff. gonna be heavy n orchestral. drums went down quick! we had spaghetti on toast for lunch. absolutely tasteless so i followed it with an apple. ive got a new motorbike magazine so things are getting pretty exciting round here. right now james is sat in front of me playing bass. dave is on his fone to my left. rick is doing science on the computer. jonny is washing his stinking flesh downstairs. charlie is in the live room playing a gretch guitar which is cool. and im wearing a bandana.

may your children forever run wild and free.

Magnetic North Day 1 - frozen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We arrived up at the studio last night - realised we were gonna be in for a pretty cold, but very productive couple of weeks so we went straight up the pub to warm our cockles.

Up early the next day to start recording proper - as long as our fingers don't snap off we should be ok, starting off with the 'Night is On Fire' seems the most logical choice to keep us warm.

Beards are growing........

Charity gig, White Lights, Brighton and more....

Thanks to everyone that attended our charity gig at the Fighting Cocks - despite the appalling weather conditions keeping a lot of people at home we managed to raise £270 for the Shooting Star Childrens Hospice. We played with the excellent Riot Lights who we'll be playing with again at their club night in Brighton on the 28th November

We will be releasing new track 'White Lights' as an exclusive download and white label 12" on Dec 21st - availble on iTunes - listen to the track on our myspace page now

Charlie and Dave recently recorded a live acoustic version of the track in the courtyard of the Fly magazine for thefly.tv - it should be up on their site very soon

We're all looking forward to getting up to Magnetic North studios to finish recording our debut album in December too. We're booked in for 2 weeks and will keep you updated with our progress - lots of woolly jumpers, beards and creative sessions on the way

Thanks

October 2nd

It was a mad morning on the 20th Sept - I think having a day off totally messed with our heads. Loading everyone in the van at Jonny's the key snapped and we had to leg it to a key cutters in Ealing who managed to give us a bodged key that eventually opened the van again, by which time we were already pretty late.

Arriving at the Soundhaus in Northampton was like turning up at some sort of Mad Max desolate landscape because the place had been shut down ages ago and most of the surrounding area had been demolished. We suddenly realised we were supposed to be at the Roadmender and had been given the wrong info, so sped over there in time for a rushed soundcheck.

Luckily things managed to calm down and the gig was really good with some cool support bands.

Liverpool was great, we arrived early enough to spend a bit of time around town, looking in record shops, eating at Eddie Rocket's and seeing a few sights. The gig was excellent and really well attended, afterwards we found out that our debut single had sold out in one day, so we partied in Heebie Jeebies till the early hours. Too many tequila shots and sambuccas all round, left us a bit jaded the following morning. Thanks to everyone that bought the single - you now own a very limited edition piece of art!!

Days 7,8 and 9 - 20th September

Hello again heads, firstly we would like to thank everyone who pre-ordered the 7" vinyl from HMV.com. Thanks to you guys we featured highly in the pre-order charts on there.

Just to recap on the last three gigs too - Bristol Louisiana was a great gig with many family and friends turning up to support us all and we celebrated Dan's birthday with lots of sambuca (my favourite - Charlie). By the end of the night we were shown the door where we continued to loiter until a patrolling police car signalled the end of the night for us. Definitely recommend Bristol as a place to visit and got to see some banksy magic around the place. Also I'm sure we could've stayed in the shops there for days. After some quick purchases and either falafel or crepes for those who didn't get a cooked chicken caesar salad we headed back to our own beds for a good nights sleep.

Club 85 in Hitchin was definitly the smallest crowd we've all played in front of. We have actually played a gig in someones bedroom to more people. However, the night was never a lost cause as the people that did stay to watch us vowed to come down to the King's Cross gig later this month. For bands that don't stay and watch who they're playing with let me just set the record straight and say now that you're never going anywhere with that kind of attitude. rant over, onto Hertford...

After an unexpected day off with the Tunbridge Wells gig cancelled at last minute we headed up to Hertford and in particular the Marquee. The venue was great and I absolutely loved the Black Tricks, they definitly showed us what local legends they are. I was dominating on the pool table only losing to Jonny after about 8 games to which I shall never live down. Dan came again and was still celebrating his birthday 3 days later! He played pool very well considering he was drunk and had only one contact lens, but i still showed him he has much to learn. I met someone called Moss and his girlfriend Charlie which was surreal. When I asked them where they lived, they said "Ware" which is pronounced like "where". It was like I had just landed in a Two Ronnies sketch, unbelievable. Hope to meet many more people on our travels who make our jobs the best.

Thanks for everyones support so far and we'll see you your heads soon. Charlie MMH

Day Five & Six - 16th September

Birmingham Bar Academy gig

Hello Heads!
So, the tour continues with a gig at the Birmingham bar academy! An interesting one to say the least. Due to the promoters cock-up, one of the support bands pulling out at the last minute and the other support band turning up with no equipment and having to go home it was a pretty quiet Monday night.
We ended up playing to about a dozen people, (you know who you are!) despite this we actually had a wicked night. Those of you there will I am sure remember the crazy crying dancing lady who seemed to have a great time! I don't think we will ever forget!
All that's left to say about that crazy night is thank you to those of you who came and made it a truly worthwhile experience.
The tour continues, watch this space.

CARDIFF BARLY

Cardiff, lovely Cardiff.

we had a good ole knees up.  The gig at the Barfly was great, good crowd and banging sound! (cheers sound man) but the greatest thing of all was that the venue turned into a club after we played, and 2 hundred people came crashing in to dance the night away.  Even better though, was that all drinks were one pound ONE POUND! needless to say we consumed a few.

we certainly look forward to going back there!

Day Three & Four - 15th September 2008

Hello Heads!

The gig in Glasgow was great! Fantastic people (especially The Castaways and their crew) and a really good vibe in the venue. Everyone had a wicked time, esp. at the ABC venue where the pre mentioned Castaways and their entourage took us and helped us paint the town red.  Once the lights came on and the bouncers tried to escort us out, we all did our best to hide in the venue so we could party more. However, the rain and cold greeted us outside the front of the club, and the only thing left to do was to jump in a cab back to the hotel.  Unfortunately for us the hotel lady was not amused by a raggedy bunch of extremely inebriated band members clambering into reception and flat out refused to let us in.  Luckily Charlie used his people skills to get us past security and into our beds. But, rather than  taking the wise option and getting as much sleep as possible considering it was now 4 am, we decided to drink the rest of Ashley’s polish vodka and stay u pall night. Cut to 6 am, and the sun slowly rising, and a bunch of men passed out snoring inanely.  Great night. Go to Glasgow.

James’ Head, go Dave.

Obviously, the morning after was pretty messy and the drive to Bolton was not particularly pretty. Consisting of us trying to stay alive for the next few hours - luckily a few service station stops to stock up on anything that would sustain blood flow - Andy’s (driver) choice of ‘toxic waste’ sweets were pretty helpful - the sourest things I’ve ever tasted.

We eventually got to Bolton, where we went to the oldest pub in town and were accosted by a few pissed up locals, commenting on our hair and clothes. Friendly enough banter though and the hair of the dog definitely helped.

The Kico Club was great - and because it was Charlie’s homecoming the turn out was inevitably really good and very friendly. The place kicked off when we went on and the whole night was great fun. Thanks to the promoters and all the fans that spoke to us after - great people.

Day Two - 12th September 2008

Day Two of the tour and we're up in Glasgow playing King Tut's Wah Wah Hut. Last night in York was a great kick-start to the show, couldn't of wished for a better start. After travelling all night to stay in Newcastle we got our heads down for some well-earned sleep. The weather in Scotland has definitly been kind and we took some time out of the bus to soak in the scenery. On our travels we found an army tank for sale! It was only £4000 too. Thanks to Amanda we're celebrating tonight with a lovely chocolate cake to soak up all the booze we're consuming. Off to soundcheck now so I'll update later. Charlie's Head

Kick Off - 11th September 2008

Welcome to the website, my my heads. after being together nearly 8 months we're already doing a UK tour. As i write this first entry for the blog i am waiting for the tourbus to come a and pick me up. It is bad news from the start though with the bus having a broken headlight already, i hope our luck improves quickly. We're all so excited about this tour especially as the singles are selling really well already and we get to play places we've not been to before. I'm going to take this chance to soak in the sights from all the wonderful towns and cities the UK has to offer and meet the lovely people there. By the way, if you havent already pre-ordered the single for the 22nd I'd urge you to hurry up as it is ltd edition and is selling like hot-cakes. Also some dates for the tour are selling better than others so i'd get tickets for those too. hope to see everyone who reads this on our travels and thank you for using your head. Charlie's Head x
